Pineapple enzymes (Bromelain)
Bromelain, an enzyme, is a compound found in the stems and immature fruits of pineapples. Bromelain is known to be anti-inflammatory and exfoliating. On the flipside, there is not enough research out there about bromelain. What we do know is, in theory, bromelain should digest the skin’s dead proteins, exfoliate, rebuild collagen and reveal softer skin. (source)
Turmeric is a bright yellow spice packed with powerful antioxidants. In the past few years, turmeric has started to trend in the beauty industry for good reason. It is an effective anti-inflammatory and skin brightener. Turmeric is shown to fade dark spots more effectively than arbutin. It is also known to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and soothe flare-ups.
Glycerin is a lubricant and humectant. Glycerin attracts water to the skin to make it smoother and softer.
The Glow Up is packaged in a 2 oz plastic jar with a black screw top. The mask itself has a jelly-like texture with no scent.
How to apply
To use, simply apply an even layer to the face and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
Nothing brings me greater joy than an exfoliant that does not feel like it is exfoliating at all, and that’s what The Glow Up is all about. I applied an even layer to my skin and let it sit for 10 minutes. There was no stinging, burning or irritation (I have dry skin type). I rinsed with lukewarm water and my skin was noticeably softer and smoother. I love everything about this mask. It has become a mid-week skin pick me up.
While there isn’t substantial research that pineapple enzymes actually do anything to the skin, you can feel the difference after you rinse this mask off. It’s undeniable.
